Kindle news burns followers

Hello all -- So sorry I've been MIA for the last week!

After a horrible bout of the stomach flu (And being tested for swine flu) I'm back and ready to go! First on my list is the newest story that has me fuming:

In a press conference earlier today, Amazon.com announced the new Kindle DX, an update to the super-popular e-reader with a screen 2.7x larger than that of the Kindle 2.

Um, Amazon, would it be, like, possible for me to bask in the wondrous non-glow of my brand-freakin-new Kindle 2 for more than 2 weeks before you pull the rug out from under me? Seriously, how dare you intro a new Kindle after you just released an update in February?? That sounds like the worst PR I've ever heard of.

Amazon says the new version is better for reading PDFs, cookbooks and newspapers -- but I say it's a scam. Know how much it costs? $489!! Now, pick your jaw up. There is an upside: The company will be testing the new larger screen version at five colleges this fall for possible use in the sale of textbooks.

On the plus side, if you have a spare $380 (including a carrying case), buy yourself one of those "older" version kindles like I just got *15 days ago* -- it's my new best friend.

See you all on Friday :)
